1. What Is the Green Tick?

The green tick (officially called the “Official Business Account” badge) is a green checkmark that appears next to your business name in WhatsApp. It tells customers that Meta has verified your business identity.

• Increases customer trust and message open rates.
• Your business name appears instead of just a phone number.
• Differentiates you from impersonators and scammers.
• Does NOT affect API functionality — all features work the same without it.

2. Requirements

• Meta Business Verification — your business must be verified in Meta Business Manager (see verification guide).
• Active WhatsApp Business API account — you must have an active number with message history.
• Notable business — Meta grants green ticks to businesses that are “notable” — searched for, featured in news, or have significant online presence.
• Compliance — no policy violations on your account.

3. How to Apply

1. Complete Meta Business Verification first (if not already done).
2. Go to Meta Business Manager → WhatsApp Manager → Phone Numbers.
3. Click your phone number → Settings → Official Business Account.
4. Submit application — you may need to provide additional documentation.
5. Wait for review (typically 2-4 weeks).

• Be patient — many businesses are rejected on first attempt and approved later as their presence grows.

5. Common Rejection Reasons

• Insufficient notability — business is not widely searched or known.
• Incomplete Meta Business Verification — verification was not fully completed.
• Policy violations — account has spam reports or policy strikes.
• Name mismatch — WhatsApp display name does not match registered business name.
• New account — account has very little message history or customer interaction.

6. Operating Without Green Tick

The green tick is nice to have, but not required for any API functionality. Without it:

• All API features work exactly the same.
• Customers see your display name (not just the phone number) once they save your contact or you are Meta Business Verified.
• You can still send templates, run campaigns, use automation, and accept payments.
