Template messages are the backbone of WhatsApp Business API communication. Every outbound message you send outside the 24-hour customer service window -- campaigns, reminders, notifications, offers -- must use a pre-approved template. Getting your templates right is the difference between high engagement and wasted spend.
This guide provides 20+ ready-to-use template examples across every category, along with tips to get them approved by Meta on the first submission. Copy, customise with your business details, and submit them through App-ening's template manager.
How Template Variables Work
Templates use numbered variables like {{1}}, {{2}}, {{3}} as placeholders for personalised content. When you send the template, these variables are replaced with actual values -- the customer's name, appointment date, order ID, etc. You must also provide example values when submitting for approval.

Template Approval Tips
- Choose the right category. Marketing templates have stricter review. If your message is transactional (order updates, appointment reminders), use Utility -- it costs less and gets approved faster.
- Provide example values. Meta reviewers need to see what the filled-in template looks like. Always provide realistic examples (e.g., "John" for {{1}}, "March 15" for date variables).
- Avoid prohibited content. Templates promoting alcohol, gambling, adult content, or weapons will be rejected. Avoid misleading claims and excessive capitalisation.
- Include opt-out for marketing. Every marketing template should include "Reply STOP to opt out" or similar language. This is required by Meta and by Indian data protection regulations.
- Keep it concise. Templates that are too long get lower engagement. Aim for 3-5 lines of text plus a clear CTA.
- Do not hard-code dynamic content. Use variables for names, dates, amounts, and links. Hard-coded values make the template unusable for different customers.
- Test before scaling. Send the template to a small group first. Check open rates, reply rates, and block rates before sending to your full list.
